What do you write about?
My American family. Yours may be perfect. They may be dead, non-existent, estranged, nondescript, or tragically hip. But even if they are dead, your family endures within you and without you in unexpected ways. Whether you are in the phase of life where you are trying to get away from family, run back to it, or you’re basking in the realization that your friends are a better family than mom and dad could ever be - we are all united by this common, lifelong thread.
Nothing is more fundamental to our existence.
Here, I share my stories from the middle. I’m in a place where my old family is dying a slow and painful death - while simultaneously being replaced by a new family that is full of light and love.
Don’t second-guess yourself. A buried truth will never set you free, so honor the construct that eternally touches each of us.
They Who Feed on Shadows is my own personal tale of death and dawn, an American love story born of tragic ashes and the ethereal, irreplaceable joy of home.
I hear there’s no place like it.
Thank you for checking in.
